Hi, Yuletide Author! Thank you so, so much for agreeing to write a fic for me based on one of these fandoms. I already know you have great taste, and I will love whatever you write. Please do not feel discouraged if I have written more here about one fandom or another. I truly feel unhinged about everything I have requested, and I will be more than thrilled to receive anything about any one of them. Sometimes it's just a product of my ability to express what I want to say, or I copied information from an old letter to expand on, or part of the reason I am requesting something is I am so !!! about it but don't feel I really have wrapped my hands around it fully.
I am also open to receiving treats!
General Likes: character studies, slice-of-life, scenes that slot somewhere within the canon and expand upon it, outsider POV, unreliable narrators/the way POV influences a story, non-linear narratives, intimacy in all its guises (domestic fic, doing the laundry together, really knowing someone else, healthy and sometimes unhealthy dependencies), messy/complicated/nuanced relationships (anything really intense, with a possessive they're-part-of-me-and-I'm-part-of-them dynamic), future fic, road trips, fake dating, sharing a bed, hurt/comfort, time loops, trapped in an elevator/enclosed space, AUs (all the AUs! a good soulmate au -- sometimes that means two people who aren't soulmates saying fuck it and going all-in on each other, heist au, etc.), infidelity (my ships cheating with each other, not on each other), 5 Times/5 + 1 fics.
Sex Likes: Cunnilingus, dirty talk, praise kink (good girl), possessiveness (you're mine/i'm yours, hickeys), overstimulation, frottage/grinding/thigh riding, fun/laughter.
Do Not Wants: Pregnancy, kid fic, gender swap, A/B/O, watersports/scat, daddy kink/mommy kink, ageplay, BDSM, hard D/s dynamics (lighter/subtextual powerplays and negotiation is fine), pegging, anal sex/rimming, noncon, bestiality, suicide, self-harm (canon-specific eating disorders or references are okay), Harry Potter/Lord of the Rings/Game of Thrones/fantasy AUs, unrequested non-canon sexuality headcanons, unrequested polyamory, first person pov, second person pov.
BODIES BODIES BODIES (2022) [Sophie (Bodies Bodies Bodies) Jordan (Bodies Bodies Bodies)]
I came out of Bodies Bodies Bodies absolutely fascinated by Jordan and Sophie's relationship. I was so convinced it was the best part of the movie that I went back to the theater and watched it a second time, and it proved more fruitful than I imagined. I would love any fic that explores their dynamic at any time. Give me pre-film Sophie and Jordan when they're dating. The partying together! Jordan's trips in the ambulance with Sophie when she overdosed! Making fun of their friends! Giving each other the power to hurt and fiercely pretending they haven't!
I would also love something that takes place around the time of the film. Sophie and Jordan's tryst in Sophie's car before Sophie and Bee arrived. When Jordan asks if someone tried to take advantage of her in the dark, and Sophie says, "In your dreams, babe," maybe Sophie did "take advantage" of her in the dark. A fic exploring their incriminating messages -- there's a reason Sophie would rather wrestle for her phone than simply hand it over. I love infidelity, and I love the idea that Sophie and Jordan are two people so entangled that they have no real idea how to disentangle, how to give each other up or have a healthy relationship.
As far as AUs for them: Maybe instead of Jordan dying, it's Bee, leaving Sophie and Jordan. Maybe they're trapped in a time loop, and Sophie and Jordan are the only two to remember. Maybe Sophie and Jordan were actually working together to kill all their friends! Maybe nobody dies and the hurricane party is still a nightmare, just in a different way. Maybe nobody dies and they have a full blown affair.
Would also love: Bonnie & Clyde AU, Vampire AU (sexy blood drinking/the idea of consuming the one you love), serial killer AU.
Again, I just love them, and anything dealing with their fucked up dynamic would be fantastic.
INDUSTRY(TV) [Harper Stern]
I love Harper so much, and she is easily my favorite Industry character. I think she's so complicated, nuanced, terrible, talented, scarred, selfish, etc. Her mother was obviously abusive, and the way she responded to that was different from how her brother did, but it shapes her drive to succeed. She's constantly got her foot on the gas, following her gut, and in survival mode. Failure is not an option.
I would love any type of character study that delves into who she is and why she does what she does. A fic that explores her relationship with her mother and/or brother -- I loved seeing her interact with her brother in season two. Illuminating and heartbreaking. I understand why he resents her and calls her a narcissist, and maybe she is one, but she was also just a child trying to survive their home life, and I don't really blame her for that. There's so much complicated, sticky stuff to get into with her past.
My favorite relationship she has on the show is the one with Eric. Their scenes make me feel absolutely unhinged. Harper and Eric really seem to respect and understand each other, but they're also willing to screw each other over. As with everything, their relationship isn't easily definable; it's complicated. When he got her fired, there was a sense that he was doing it for her own good, to protect her, but also because he saw the lack of loyalty in her. She already screwed him over once, and she could easily do it again! He wanted to save her, and he wanted to destroy her. She's like a daughter to him, and part of him resents her. If you want, I would love fic delving into their relationship.
The other relationship that I'm quite fond of is the one Harper has with Robert. There's some kind of love and kindness there, and they understand each other on a class level. I don't know if there are really any lingering feelings between them at this point in canon, but it seems like they had been hooking up pre-covid or during, and if you wanted to write about that, go ahead! If you want to write about their friendship, maybe they confide in each other and really open up, go for it! Maybe they can connect over the assaults they've both experienced from Nicole, or something else entirely. I just have a real soft spot in my heart for them, and I think they have soft spots for each other.
Again, I just love Harper. Any fic that focuses on her and revolves around her would be incredible.
NORMAL PEOPLE (TV 2020) [Marianne Sheridan, Connell Waldron]
The novel and the show have both completely turned me inside out, and I rewatched the miniseries earlier this year, and was still just as floored as the first time. I adored both Marianne and Connell, their relationship, the nuance, complications and contradiction within it, and the connection and love that ultimately binds them to each other through everything. I would love anything about the two of them, whether it takes place within the various time frames of the show, or explores the two of them at a time set after it ends -- which felt hopeful to me, bittersweet, but ultimately love-affirming and optimistic.
I would love fic where Connell comes back home after his time in New York, whether for holiday or a short time or permanently. I would love fic where Marianne visits him in New York just as much. In either scenario, in any moment of reconnection, the two of them finding that their bond is malleable, able to change and stretch, unable to be severed because of how they've impacted each other and how they understand each other. Anything that explores the way their relationship has changed as they have as individuals, especially while physically away from each other, and attempting to readjust to that.
I adore outsider POV fic, so something that explores how other people see Marianne and Connell's relationship at various times would be fascinating to me. Give me Lorraine, or Helen, or Peggy, or Joanna, or Jamie, (or all of them!) or someone else -- a friend or romantic partner either of them has while Connell is in New York and Marianne is still in Ireland, who knows the other exists, but that knowledge becomes new and changes once they actually witness Marianne and Connell together. Marianne and Connell being unfaithful to someone with each other is something I would love, but not the other way around.
A story that deals with Marianne and Connell when they get back together toward the end of the series. The scene where they're having sex, and Marianne asks Connell to hit her, and he refuses, is so interesting to me. A story that has them working through that moment and what it means for their relationship and their intimacy going forward. Marianne's desire to submit to Connell, and how that is impacted by his aversion to having power over her, despite them both having power over each other in different ways. The two of them coming terms with that in a healthy way. It seems to be touched on in the show but not explored in-depth or in practicality -- how do we get from that scene to the sex they have on Marianne's birthday? I would love to see them navigating sexual intimacy that is, once again, satisfying to both of them, and deals with their ideas of love and sex and power and how it's, maybe, become more complicated over the years.
THE BEAR (TV 2022) [Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto, Sydney Adamu]
The Bear was absolutely the most stressful show I watched this year, and it made it extremely clear being a chef/working in a kitchen could never be for me! But I had a really great time with it, and I especially loved Carmy and Sydney and their dynamic. Anything you want to give me involving them, whether it's friendship or something that veers more romantic, I will be absolutely thrilled. I love the respect between them, how they both love cooking and food so much. The nourishing nature of food and cooking for another person could be great to explore here If you know a lot about cooking or food, feel free to go wild! Competency kink could be really, really great.
Their talk by the dumpsters was one of my favorite moments of the season. Maybe expand upon that type of conversation -- they have a heart-to-heart, they confide in each other, maybe they call each other out on their shit and really listen (one of my favorite things about their dynamic!), maybe Sydney tells Carmy the best meal she ever had was his! Because that detail was maybe obvious, but made me feel like I had to go do cartwheels down the street! Maybe she doesn't tell him that, and she cooks something for him, and it ends up being the best thing Carmy's ever eaten!
A character study of either would also be great. Carmy's grief over his brother's death, and his determination to save the restaurant, and the world he survived in New York. His relationship with his family is so complicated and feels so real, and I would love anything that pulls that apart. I don't want anything too specific about his brother's death, though, as per my DNWs, suicide is a tricky subject and can be triggering for me. For Sydney, something that explores her catering company, how she takes on so much and tries to do it all and ends up burnt out. She's ambitious! I love that!
I would also love the two of them hooking up as stress relief! Exploring how that complicated their relationship, or maybe it doesn't. Or maybe they act married and don't even notice it, but everyone else does. A fic that shows Carmy and Sydney's relationship from other POVs would be really, really great, too. How does Richie, Tina, Marcus, etc see them!
For this fandom I would prefer you stay relatively close to the canon versus veering off into AU territory, but I could see some kind of time loop being fun here, maybe the day their preorders go live! Or maybe they got locked in a pantry! Honestly. anything exploring Carmy and Sydney as characters and/or their relationship will be fantastic.
CONVERSATIONS WITH FRIENDS (TV) [Frances Flynn (Conversations with Friends TV), Bobbi Connolly (Conversations with Friends TV)]
I love these two! Best friends! Exes still in love! I am not at all interested in Frances's relationship with Nick, and I would not want him featured here unless he's commenting on her relationship with Bobbi/him being cheated on or something similar (I know there's an alleged exploration of nonmonogamy and loving two people at once, but I find it wasn't particularly well done, and I find Nick awfully boring, and I wish Frances's relationship with him had led to anything at all that felt like character growth instead of stasis.)
If you want to explore Frances and Bobbi's relationship in high school, I would love that! How much Frances admires and looks up to her, shapes herself after Bobbi and Bobbi's viewpoints and wants so desperately for Bobbi to like her. Give me the two of them the first time they dated! What was it like, and how did their classmates react to them? There's something really interesting about Frances's self-esteem and how it's wrapped up in someone as cool as Bobbi choosing her.
And then, of course, how it's affected by Bobbi breaking up with her. Give me the two of them navigating their breakup and how weird it is! All of the things they ignore and don't talk about because they don't want to really let each other go and don't actually create any real distance. I would also be interested in Frances and their relationship from Bobbi's point-of-view, since the show (and novel) are so steeped in Frances and how she sees things. How does Bobbi feel about Frances? How does Frances make Bobbi feel about herself? How does she see Frances, and how is it all similar and different from Frances's perception.
I would love anything that shifts the ending a bit. Frances and Bobbi get back together! Maybe the relationship with Nick actually forces Frances to look at how she's still in love with Bobbi, and it's the catalyst for the two of them to work their shit out and get back together in a way that is healthy! And as a result, she doesn't tell Nick to find her. Or, I read someone who said Frances knows that Nick is too passive to actually find her and that is her way of letting him go -- I don't know that I agree with that reading, but if you write something that makes that reading true, I think it could be really fascinating. Or something that takes the ending and goes from there, ending with Frances choosing Bobbi.
Honestly, I just adore them and the idea that they are intertwined and refuse to untangle themselves. They're sweet with each other, and they can hurt each other, and there is also the fear of being vulnerable because they know they can then be hurt. Anything that delves into the complicated love they have for each other would be absolutely fantastic.
Once again, thank you so, so much for agreeing to write me something for one of these fandoms! I am positive I will love whatever you come up with and have the absolute best time reading it. You can find me on ao3 @perfectlystill and twitter @dkaluuyaegot.
I am also open to receiving treats!
