freakinguselessDear Yuletide Author! Thank you so much for agreeing to write a story for me about one of these fandoms. I know whatever you come up with is going to scratch an itch in my brain just right. Below I've listed general information about my likes and dislikes, as well as some fandom-specific ideas, but please don't feel beholden to them if you're really excited about another avenue I haven't thought about. I know if you have fun writing for me, I'll have the best time reading it.
For each fandom, my gift must feature all my chosen character tags.

General Likes: character studies, slice-of-life, scenes that slot somewhere within the canon and expand upon it, outsider POV, unreliable narrators/the way POV influences a story, non-linear narratives, intimacy in all its guises (domestic fic, doing the laundry together, really knowing someone else, healthy and unhealthy dependencies), messy/complicated/nuanced relationships (anything really intense, with a possessive they're-part-of-me-and-I'm-part-of-them dynamic), future fic, road trips, fake dating, sharing a bed, hurt/comfort, time loops, trapped in an elevator/enclosed space, AUs (lots of AUs! a good soulmate au -- sometimes that means two people who aren't soulmates saying fuck it and going all-in on each other, and sometimes it means your soulmate is Bad For You But You Don't Care, heist au, etc.), infidelity (my ships cheating with each other, not on each other), jealousy, being violent towards others on behalf of the one they love, media fics, 5 Times/5 + 1 fics.

SANCTUARY (2022) (Rebecca Marin, Hal Porterfield)

Sanctuary was one of the most surprisingly delightful movie experiences I've had so far this year. I didn't know what to expect going into it, but I absolutely loved it. A screwball romcom disguised as an erotic thriller! Absolutely obsessed with the power play between Hal and Rebecca and his desire to make her happy. The way her jealousy slowly comes through when she thinks he's talking to a girlfriend or fiancée, and then her relief and delight when she learns it's his mom! How much Hal respects Rebecca and genuinely appreciates their time together -- the absolutely annoying room service order that was half for her! Buying her a watch and really, really wanting her to like it! Everything about the movie makes me feel so, so nuts.
Would love fic that explores any of their sessions (feel free to get really weird here, if you want), whether it's set before the film or something they still engage in after the film ends because they find it scratches an itch for both of them. She tells him what to do, degrades him, and he loves it. I would also love to see them navigating their newfound relationship where Rebecca goes to work and Hal takes care of her in every way. What does that look like for them? Is there a learning curve? Does she have the energy to be judgmental and then tell him he did a good job? What happens if she doesn't?
I loved the actual sex scene between them -- knife to his throat! How her happiness is the most important thing to him! Give me more of that. Some pain play, some vague threats, dirty talk and Rebecca telling Hal exactly what she thinks of him! They both seem to have a breeding kink, and I love that for them!
Would be delighted by a media-style fic where people are reacting to the fact that Hal bought out the company and named Rebecca CEO -- Who is she? How do they know each other? The gossip, the tabloids, the reddit threads! The tweets! How does his mom react? How does her ex-fiancé react? -- Speaking of, did he have any idea she was checking our of their relationship? Would be so fun!
For this fandom, I would prefer to focus on the actual canon universe in some capacity, but beyond that, go wild!
INDUSTRY(TV) (Harper Stern)

I love Harper so much, and she is easily my favorite Industry character. I think she's so complicated, nuanced, terrible, talented, scarred, selfish, etc. Her mother was obviously abusive, and the way she responded to that was different from how her brother did, but it shapes her drive to succeed. She's constantly got her foot on the gas, following her gut, and in survival mode. Failure is not an option.
I would love any type of character study that delves into who she is and why she does what she does. A fic that explores her relationship with her mother and/or brother -- I loved seeing her interact with her brother in season two. Illuminating and heartbreaking. I understand why he resents her and calls her a narcissist, and maybe she is one, but she was also just a child trying to survive their home life, and I don't really blame her for that. There's so much complicated, sticky stuff to get into with her past.
My favorite relationship on the show is Harper's relationship with Eric. Their scenes make me feel absolutely unhinged. Harper and Eric really seem to respect and understand each other, but they're also willing to screw each other over. As with everything, their relationship isn't easily definable; it's complicated. When he got her fired, there was a sense that he was doing it for her own good, to protect her, but also because he saw the lack of loyalty in her. She already screwed him over once, and she could easily do it again! He wanted to save her, and he wanted to destroy her. She's like a daughter to him, and part of him resents her. If you want, I would love fic delving into their relationship.
The other relationship that I'm quite fond of is the one Harper has with Robert. There's some kind of love and kindness there, and they understand each other on a class level. I don't know if there are really any lingering feelings between them at this point in canon, but it seems like they had been hooking up pre-Covid or during, and if you wanted to write about that, go ahead! If you want to write about their friendship, maybe they confide in each other and really open up. Maybe they connect over the assaults they've both experienced from Nicole, or something else entirely. I just have a real soft spot in my heart for them, and I think they have soft spots for each other.
Again, I just love Harper. Any fic that focuses on her and revolves around her would be incredible.
DAISY JONES & THE SIX (TV) (Daisy Jones (DJ&6 TV), Billy Dunne (DJ&6 TV))

I am obsessed with Daisy and Billy, and as the book states, if they thought they were the two most interesting people in the world, so did I. I have read the book, but the miniseries really just added to and improved upon what I enjoyed about the novel. Billy messily telling Daisy at the beach that she makes everything better! That kiss in the parking lot! Billy being there for Daisy during her overdose and, to my ears, calling her, "baby." I'd love anything between them that slots in with the canon during the 70s. Give me anything about the two of them being connected -- more of the songwriting process, their disagreements, making the songs better, Billy being the only one to speak daisy! Billy seems to have told Daisy his worst moments, just as she told him her secrets, what were those conversations like? Did they hook up more than they let on (during the tour, maybe?)? Any sort of bonding, tension, angst, fighting their connection and attraction.
I'd also be very into the two of them having an ongoing affair -- during the 70s, reconnecting in the 80s, maybe up through the actual documentary and Camila's death. If so, is it an open secret? How does work? I love mess! Or maybe just follow their reconnection in the 90s. Do they write together again? Give me the two of them navigating the hurt and maybe the regret of what happened and of being apart for so long?
Maybe an outsider POV fic -- how do the band members perceive them? Does Julia do
deep dive into their relationship? A media-style fic would be great here, too. I know social media wasn't really a thing during the 70s or the 90s, but I'd be super interested in what fans were saying -- reddit threads, twitter conversations, tabloid articles, interviews etc.
For this, I am not into Daisy having any other "great love" or her daughter being anything other than adopted. Anything else with the two of them that focuses on their connection, and especially the mess and angst, is something I'm really, really into.
THOROUGHBREDS (2017) (Amanda (Thoroughbreds), Lily (Thoroughbreds))

I watched Thoroughbreds for the first time this year, and it was so my jam that I had friends be like, "This is so your thing I never would have thought to recommend it to you, because I figured you'd already seen it." I love Amanda and Lily and their nebulous and odd relationship. They used to be good friends -- the picture of them on their horses when they were younger! -- and then they lost touch, and now they're reconnecting at a time when neither of them really have anyone else.
I love the way the film plays with their obsession with each other, how throughout the movie Amanda sometimes wears something that reflects Lily's style and vice versa. They influence each other, but they never fully switch places or become each other. They can both be their truest (awful?) selves with each other, and they both lose that freedom in the end in different ways. When Lily told Amanda she drugged her drink and was planning on framing her for murder and Amanda chugged the screwdriver, anyway? I was clapping, cheering, kicking my feet and twirling my hair! That's love, baby! The original script makes me feel unhinged!
I would love anything that expands on them during the timeframe of the film, missing pieces or conversations between them. I want them to kiss! I'm into them fucking! For these two in particular I absolutely don't mind any sort of pain play or blood play. I am not interested in Amanda having feelings like everyone else, but I am interested in her having love for Lily that manifests in odd ways (like taking the fall for murder to make her life better). I would also love anything set after the movie: Maybe Lily visits Amanda, or maybe Amanda gets out and they run into each other somewhere.
As far as AUs for them, let them murder half of Connecticut! Serial Killer AU! Give them a Thelma & Louise or Bonnie & Clyde sort of heist or road trip! Vampire AU or Cannibalism AU -- love as consumption! Amanda gave her life for Lily in the film, maybe some type of literalizing of that. Let Lily be haunted by Amanda, whether real or in her head. Haunting as a form of love! Anything creepy, dark and twisted here works for me.
